Impact Communication

We shape one clear story about the change you create, backed by your evidence, and adapt it for each audience.

At a glance

The problem

You do good work, but you struggle to explain it. Each person on the team describes it differently, the website says one thing and the pitch says another, and you're not sure which claims you can safely make.

Timeline
Flexible. It depends on your team's availability.
Format
A messaging workshop, then drafts and review rounds.
Delivery
Remote or in person.
Investment
On request.

Who it's for

  • Organizations with real results and an audience they need to reach or convince.

Who it's not for

  • Organizations that want claims the evidence can't support.

What's included

Deliverables, depending on what you need

  • An impact narrative and key messages
  • A message guide by audience, such as funders, clients, partners, and the public
  • Content for your website, social media, or presentations
  • A check of your claims against your evidence

How it starts

  1. We agree on the audiences and what each one needs to hear.
  2. We review your evidence and current messaging.
  3. We write the narrative and messages with you.
  4. We adapt them for each channel.

Workshops we've given on this topic

  • Empathic Communication for Funding

Learn to understand what funders care about, and to pitch, write and speak with empathy. It makes your message clearer and more convincing, and it is most useful before a funding application, a pitch or a conversation with a donor or investor. Founders, fundraisers and communication leads ask for it.

Project
Social Media Advocacy Campaign

The problem

A number of Portugal's botanical species were at risk of becoming extinct. ZERO and Sociedade Portuguesa de Botânica formed an alliance to publish a scientific document to raise awareness and call on people to act for their protection.

What I did

We designed and ran a social media campaign that raised awareness and clearly identified these species and their importance. It promoted the scientific document of their assessment, which found that 97% of the plants previously identified as at risk were now threatened with extinction, and called on politicians and citizens to act.

The result

The content of the campaign became law.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Report Writing?

Impact Communication shapes how you talk about your impact all year, across your website, pitches, and social media. Report Writing produces one document with a deadline.

Do you manage our social media?

No. We create the messages and content, and your team publishes them.

How do you avoid greenwashing?

We check each claim against your evidence. If the evidence doesn't support it, we change the claim or drop it.

We don't have much data yet. Can we still do this?

Yes, as long as we're honest about what you know and what you don't.
